Yesaya Nkhwazi, known professionally as YesaYa, is a South African-born, Malawian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. YesaYa gained recognition as 1/5 of rap group Team Gypsy, which achieved success with their lead single “Travelling” from a 22-track debut album. YesaYa also released single “Stutter” with fellow member Wizaymes (now Bagpac) and Theo Thomson, which gained major airplay across Africa on TV stations Channel O and MTV Base Africa.
YesaYa began to adopt a more R&B singer image with the release of two mixtapes; So Last Year, and So Last Year 2.0, which yielded the successful single “Ulele”.
